The program, which began inis the latest for the railroad to upgrade older and less reliable locomotives in its fleet. The rebuild program features a complete electrical upgrade, replacing the existing Siemens electrical equipment, including the inverters, with Mitsubishi electronics. The existing cab is replaced with a new isolated SD70ACe cab along with a number of other smaller changes to the locomotive during rebuild.

There are so many SD70 frames available now that they may institute a larger upgrade program for them - the CN order is underway too I believe. The only major change in terms of roof line is the cabs from what I know, though the internals mayhave had more changes such as the radiators without any telltale external signs.

Author: Train Nice work on the photos.Although the original SD70 Series line; including the subsequent SD70ACe, were initially expected to end domestic production by as a result of the engine line and subsequent engine model G3C-T3 having failed to meet Tier 4 emissions regulations, the new EMD J-equipped SD70ACe-T4 prototype was unveiled during the Railway Interchange rail expo in the twin cities region of Minnesota, and furthermore rebounded the line and subsequent locomotive model.
But as ofthe Tier 3-compliant model is available for export only, while specialty variants such as the SD70ACe-BB are currently in production. As ofTier 4 Credit T4C locomotives are available for purchase specifically for Class 1 railroads that have earned credits toward purchasing new Tier 4-compliant locomotives.
